Trying to Write A Poem

I don’t know how to write a poem,

But I will try.

I am terribly inspired right now,

So help me rhyme.

What is the lure of poetry?

So different from a novel.

Much shorter obviously,

And much more apt.

What should I write about?

I need a topic in mind.

Or else it’ll turn out like this:

Meaningless and no one will give a dime.

I’m trying to write a fourth paragraph,

To end this silly venture.

I swear I’ll never write poetry again,

And subject you to such torture.
